What's in a Name???

Baby Names - BabyNamey.com Name Badge Ticker

Only a few week left until the baby arrives, and we have NO NAMES picked out. Sure, I have my list, and Andy has his list, but the two do not coincide. Drew calls her million dollar Norma or baby Norma and Avery likes Posie Melinda ;). I know most of you already know our baby naming history, but I haven't written down Drew's story yet, so I thought I would take a minute and let the rest of you see what I am talking about.

Drew decided to make his appearance into the world 2 weeks early, and needless to say, we didn't have a name picked out yet. Months of discussing had gotten us NOWHERE. Before we could leave the hospital, we had to write something down on the paperwork. Andy wanted to name him Brennan. I was tired of discussing names and just wanted to go home. So, Brennan it was. After we got home, the name just wasn't working for us so we opened up the discussion again. The poor kid went through about 5 different names in 3 weeks before Andy finally decided to give me a great birthday present and let me pick the name (Andy conveniently doesn't remember giving me this gift:) ). I decided on Jacob Isaac Ingersoll. He had this name for about 24 hours before it was changed once again.

The next day we were going to bless little "jacob" in church. Before Sacrament meeting started the bishop asked Andy what we were going to name the baby. He said Jacob. Then, about 1 minute before he goes up to bless him he leans over to me and says "I think I am going to name him Andrew." Andrew had been a top choice, I wasn't opposed to it, so whatever. Andrew it is. I just wanted the poor kid to FINALLY have a name that couldn't be changed. The only thing left to do was pay the money to have it changed on his birth certificate and stuff. Funny thing is, on the Monday after his blessing a lady at the hospital called me and said " I still have your paperwork sitting here and I thought I'd just call and make sure you still wanted the name Brennan before I send it in." What a blessing, how lucky, and random, that she called. How often does that happen?? I guess Brennan just wasn't meant to be. I told her the new name and she changed it for me. And that my friend's is how Drew got his name.

And now I plead for your help so that I don't have a nameless baby for 3 weeks again. Here are a few names on our individual lists that are being thrown around (I'm not going to say whose names are whose). Which ones do you like/hate? And, PLEASE SHARE with me other girl names that you like and maybe we can put an end to this serious struggle in my life. It is stressing me out!!!
Oh, and for the record, Avery's name was just as hard!

Kennedy
Sephora
Mia
Tessa
Sabrina
Afton
Kelsie
Callista
Callie
Elsie
Isabelle
Olivia
Chelsea
Emmie

I think Olivia is adorable. And Elsie and Chelsea. And Emmie. Joe and I both agree girls' names are easier than boys. If we are blessed with another girl, I think we are going with Evalyn and calling her Ellie. We'll probably change our minds... good luck!

I have some that I like...I think Olivia goes really well with Avery and Andrew. So, here is my most favorite to least:
Olivia
Kennedy
Chelsea

But I really think Olivia is "IT"!
Good Luck!

So, forget the names....I wanna see an xray of the bullets Andrew swallowed! Your mother told me about it when they were up there visiting. I guess it was a while ago, but did you make a post about that?

I really like Isabelle, Callista, and Olivia...they all are really cute choices though! :)
If shane and i had a girl a few of our top choices were Brooke, Aubrey, and Shalee. 'Sha' ffrom shane, 'LEE' from my name, and it is basically my name spelled out except the 'ash' is 'sha'....maybe you can come up with something that mixes both your names together! :) That might add more stress for you though!! :) good luck!

I like Olivia and Afton. I'm sure whatever name you give her though she will be adorable like your other 2. When I picture girls named Olivia, I picture big beautiful eyes and your other too have that she probably will too:)

I too really like Olivia. We have a little friend Olivia that they sometimes call Livy. Super cute.
I also really love Tessa. I have never known a Tessa that wasn't gorgeous and hilarious.

Everybody likes Olivia 'cause there are a million cute Olivia's already out there!!!
Callista has got to be Andy's name! Ha-ha
If you ever called your big sis she could help relieve your stress... and tell Andy I have a signed conract-Sephora is SOOOOOO off the list. I'm laughing how nobody wanted to say anything bad about it so they didn't offend you. lol
Emmie, Tessa, Mia, and Chelsea, and Afton are my 5 faves.

Just a lurker here. I agree I think Olivia, Isabelle and Emmie are VERY popular right now. But I do think you should choose a name that starts with a vowel like your other kids. So I am going to suggest a few

Ainslee
Alison
Amanda
Elise

Though I am really like Ainslee it is my daughters middle name and I went back and forth whether to use it as her first. Finally it just am dow to what sounded better. Good luck

Oh my gosh Lar, I can't believe people like Afton! I know we've already discussed this so I know its not your favorite either so I think its ok for me to say I'm not a fan! I wonder if those people don't associate it with a podunk town in Wyoming? Maybe that's my problem. I also think Olivia is WAY too popular and since I had to be Brooke H. for all of elementary school I'm not a fan of too popular (we have four Olivias in my ward right now all under 4). But it is cute. Can I just comment on all of them?

Sephora-- the makeup store? no
Mia-- like it (is it MEE-a or MY-a)
Tessa-- LOVE it
Sabrina-- neutral
Afton-- don't like, podunk wyoming town
Kelsie-- cute
Callista-- reminds me of Callista Flokhart, not a fan
Callie-- like it
Elsie-- sounds like a cow, sorry!
Isabelle-- ok but also pretty popular
Olivia-- too popular but it is cute
Chelsea-- cute
Emmie-- cute but also really popular especially if you consider all the Emma's out there, I mean I think it was #1 for like 5 years so that's something to consider.

Was this too long!? I love you! :) You can come play this game on my blog in a few months.

LOL, just had to let you all know I am from that amazing "podunk-if you all could have been so lucky to have had such a childhood- town in Wyoming." Something I have quickly learned is that no matter where you are someone is going to be from or know someone from Star Valley a.k.a. Afton. :) (Not my favorite name, but not the worst either.)

I like the name Emmie, because it sounds like Ammie! LOL. I really love the name Olivia, and Afton is lovely. (Isn't the Afton an Irish river? It's really a nice name.) Sabrina sounds both cute and sophisticated, and Kennedy just sounds cute to me. I've never thought of Sephora and need more thinking time for it. I like most of the other names on your list, too. My favorite girl names for us include Gretta/Greta and Eleanor, even though it is so very old fashioned. Good luck choosing!

Please don't ever name a baby brennan. That was my missionaries name, and I don't think I could deal with a nephew with that name. Bad memories. Good thing you didn't do that!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't know why we seriously like all the same names. I guess you get first pick since you are actually having a baby but I am voting for NOT naming her Olivia :) My favorite is Kennedy by far. My next choices are Isabelle and Elsie :)

Anytime for the baby now huh????? That is sooo crazy. I'm excited to have a new little niece!!!!!!!

Hey all you darling kids in Ohio! Aunt Andrea is helping me leave a comment...Uncle Aaron and I wrote one last week but it didn't work. Aaron is voting for Afton. He loves that name and he is definitely in the "know what is cool" time of life. I am voting and I think grandma's count double...is Isabelle and call her Belle after her great, great grandma Belle Ingersoll. I will love her no matter what her name is! I especially like Norma and Posie! Love you grandma

Sorry, I do love the name Afton, and yeah, are you trying to keep the A thing going? I also like Elsie and Sabrina. This is probably just making it harder to hear what everyone else thinks. You'll know when you see her. We didn't know for sure with Ava until the day we took her home from the hospital. Don't stress it, it will come :)
