"Hey Drew, show me your muscles!"
"come on mom, do I have to?"
"Yes"

Spontaneous Adventures

*October 8

It was a Beautiful day yesterday. They say it may be our last, the end to this Indian Summer we have enjoyed the last few weeks. Not really knowing where we were going we jumped in the car and headed towards the coast. It ended up being too far away, so half way through our journey we took a quick turn off the freeway and followed the signs to Framlingham. One of the cool things about England is that no matter what direction you head in, you will almost always run into a castle. You would think that after going to a few castles it would get kind of old, but I LOVE them, and so do the kids. They love exploring and pretending to be the queen and king and I love learning the history and imagining what it was like long ago. This castle was the one were the first Queen of England, Mary Tudor, was crowned. It was built around 1100. AMAZING! The sun was shining and we soaked up the rays while the kids climbed and explored to their hearts content. A perfect Saturday.

The Seaside

Want to know the best present nature could ever give me? An Indian Summer in October. The weather here has been SO nice. England experienced the hottest day in October since 1985. 86 degrees baby! So what did we do? Head to the seaside of course (aka the beach in the states. lol)! Andy and I doubted that it would actually be warm enough to play at the beach but boy were we wrong. We put the kids in their swimming suits and wished we had worn ours too! They had so much fun collecting shells and splashing in the sea. Nothing like a lazy sunny day with sand between your toes to renew your spirits!

There were a bunch of Adorable beach huts lining the shore in the most fun colors!

A prefect day!

School days

Trying to decide where Avery was going to go to school was a bit of a challenge. There are pluses and minuses to attending the base school as well as to attending the British school. But, after much contemplation we decided to put her into the british school by our house, Lakenheath Community Primary School. It is a very charming old building. So far is has proven to be a good choice. She really likes it and says that she never wants to go to an American school again. lol. Her favorite part is that they get to take a bus to a local pool and go swimming every Thursday. Things are a bit different in the british school system so she has some catching up to do, but her teacher, Ms. Arnold, says she is doing "brilliantly" and should be caught up by December. In the states she would be in first grade, but here it is called Year 2. She has already started to pick up a little accent and to use British vocabulary. It is pretty cute!

The girls grabbed hands and held on tight to each other  as they walked in

2 Years old already??

Man, that was fast!! I can't believe my baby is 2!! This little girl melts my heart ( and her daddy's too)!!! She can put a smile on my face faster than anything and I can't imagine life without her. I had been collecting ideas for her party all year, not realizing that we would be just moving into our house and not have any of our stuff when the big day came around. The theme was going to be "cute as a button" so just use your imagination because she was lucky to even have a cake. :) But, she was as happy as could be on her birthday. I wish I could have bottled her sweet little excitement up and put it on a shelf. The day before her birthday she kept asking me to make her a birthday cake for her party. it was so cute. Drew kept teasing her and saying it was his birthday and she would look at him sternly and say "No Drew, it Livi's birthday". It made me laugh.
She LOVES muffins, or as she says, "mussins" so we started the celebration with a candle in some breakfast muffins. She was so happy. After Church we had a few friends over to have cake and open presents. The only way I can describe the day is to say she was seriously just so sweet and happy, grinning from ear to ear. She knew it was her special day. Nothing fancy, but it was the best day ever to her.

Drewism

I haven't been very good about recording Drew's funny sayings this year, but here are 2 that I want to remember.

This may be TMI but Drew goes number 2 about 5 times a day, and he can't wipe his own bum. It gets old REALLY fast. Andy and I "argue" about who's turn it is to wipe his bum. Sometimes we leave him sitting there for a while before we go and rescue him (cruel I know). It is not uncommon to hear "Come wipe my bum" echoing off of our walls on a regular basis. One time he had been sitting there for a few minutes and I hear him yell "Mom, I'm not getting any younger in here!!" I laughed so hard!! He thought he was pretty clever too. He likes to remind me of the time he yelled that from the bathroom.

Andy's family has this "endearing" ways of saying how much they like something. They use the term "medium".  If you ask them how a movie was or dinner, or an event, they will say "it was medium." When I first heard it, I thought it was a little strange, but I have now become accustomed to it and find myself using it every once in a while too. Well, Andrew has picked up on this Ingersoll terminology and started using it also. Except he has added Small and Large to the mix. For example, the other day we tried canned apricots and he said "Mom, I like real apricots Large, but canned ones are just medium." It is So funny to me. It makes me laugh.
