I hate it when that happens!!!

So today I was feeling pretty good about having dinner made (just needed to stick it in the oven) and the kitchen cleaned before 4:30 pm. Perfect! Now I'll have a little time to play with the kids before the "night-time rush." Yeah Right!! I turned on the oven to let it heat up. Heard the ding and went to put my homemade manicotti in the oven, and SPLAT!!! yep, dumped the whole thing all over myself and splashed red sauce all over the kitchen. So much for a clean kitchen and a nice meal waiting for hubby to come home. Why do things NEVER go as planned??????? PLease tell me????

Speaking of dinner, Last week I made frozen pizza for dinner and Andy gave me such a hard time!! He loves a good home cooked meal (who doesn't), and I think I do a pretty good job most of the time cooking. But, I'm allowed a break every once and a while, right? I'm just curious to know how often you guys cook. So please take my oh so scientific little polls over on the side bar so I can see where I stand. I'll share my answers later!

P.S. in Andy's defense, he ALWAYS says thank you when I cook a good meal which I really appreciate! And, just so you know, I DON"T cook 7 days a week! :)

UPDATE: Sorry if I made it sound like I am a "perfect house wife" because I AM NOT! And Andy is a GREAT husband who hardly ever complains. :) I usually cook Good meals 5-6 days a week and we eat out once. We like to go to Costco on Friday nights and eat there. It's cheap and I don't have to clean up, so I love it! And as far as frozen pizza or spaghetti type meals...once every month or so.

Lauren, he is spoiled. :) I will cook good for about a month and then for a whole week i scrimp on dinners...frozen pizza, chicken salad on bread, etc..then after that week of not having to cook much i get back in my mood to cook again. Most men don't get it as good as he's got it. My cousins don't cook, my best friend's husband helps her cook meals 4 days out of the week. My dear husband just deals pretty nicely with that one week that i don't do so well whenever it hits. :)

yes, agreed. definitely spoiled!!! i guess i have it a little easier that clint would rather have a feeding tube than have to bother to eat, but he still appreciates a home-cooked meal especially if he knows i've worked hard on it. i think we have something frozen at least once a week and are guaranteed to do take-out of some sort at least once too. i say you lower his expectations all together and go on strike! then when you cook even 4 times a week he'll be so grateful! that's basically what happened here - except it was for 9 months- the whole time i was pregnant i did not cook AT ALL because of the pukies. poor clint.

Um.. Ben would LOVE to have a wife like you. hahah I do not cook. Maybe if he didn't always talk about his moms cooking I would try. But the way he talks I will NEVER be as good. I always remind him.. You mom has 40 some odd years on me. It will take me time to get as good as her. I must admit she is GOOD! I think when I have kids and stay at home.. I will try harder to make a dinner for Ben:) You are a VERY good wife and Andy is VERY lucky!!

Wow I thought Aaron was lucky! Andy is spoiled. I try hard to cook most week nights but at least once a week we have hamburgers and frozen fries (I buy the frozen hamburgers at costco that I can just throw on the grill). And we eat out usually either Friday or Saturday. Plus Aaron cooks at least once a week usually (when I was pregnant it was more like four times a week!). We love the costco take and bake pizzas too so I throw those in there once in a while.
You are a good wife! If I had dropped that dinner like you did I seriously would have cried!
You need to call me again, I seriously called you back like 30 seconds after you called me, there has to be some leeway for poopy diaper changing! ;)

tsk tsk Lauren... you don't cook a 5-course meal every night that comes out of the oven just as Andy walks in the door? I think we might have to kick you out of the Relief Society. We can't be having any of that laziness.:)

I loved your little pole. I took it. SO fun. Ha Ha. So is the pole counting all meals, breakfast, lunch and dinner...or just dinner? I took it thinking you meant just dinner. That picture made me hungry.
The picture of Avery on the blue chair is so adorable!! You are good.

Okay Okay....let me rephrase then. I hate JANUARY cause it's so cold. But, I love you and Drew. It's a great month to have a baby. My parents got married in January too! So I only hate the cold part about it. If there were no January- there would be no Lauren, Drew, or Egan family.... so I love it when putting it that way!

Spaghetti only once every month or two?!?! Sheesh...we have it once a week! We love spaghetti though. :)We only eat out though like once a month. I am surprised from the survey how often people eat out!!!

I must be super lazy! I blame it all on being prego:) Seriously though, Damon is really only home for dinner on Friday, Saturday and Sunday...so the other 4 days of the week, I make burritos or something totally easy for me and the kids. It's just not worth it to me to make a nice meal that... won't be appreciated, and will probably end up all over the floor anyways! Then, we'll eat out as a family once a week, and Damon mostly does dinner on Sunday...SO...I cook a meal (if Damon's lucky) once a week:) It's pretty sad when he comes home hungry, and I have to say, "sorry hon. There's some fruit in the crisper if you're hungry." Poor guy. I really do like to cook, just not being pregnant...and... not when I'm only cooking for myself most nights. Andy is super lucky!
I'm like Brooke. I would've cried if I dropped a nice meal like that all over my freshly cleaned kitchen! You're such a great wife:)

Spoiled...Spoiled... Spoiled. Man, does he really have it good. It is a good thing that Russ doesn't mind my simple meals. (I.E. turkey sandwiches, chips and salsa, and frozen burritos). I didn't even know what Mancotti is let alone spell it. Tips please... Where are your fabulous recipes to these 5 star gourmet meals??? Help a sister out!:)
