Have you seen those blogging awards that people give to other bloggers like Wonder woman award, Nice Matters Award, Rockin' Girl blogger, etc. ? Anyways, I decided to make up my own that you can only assign to yourself. It is the Bad Mommy Award. I am the winner this week. Drew was taking a nap next to me on our bed the other day, and I got up to go downstairs for a minute. I didn't think he would wake up, so I casually set a few pillows around him. Next thing I know we hear a blood curdling scream and Andy ran upstairs to find Andrew pinned upside down between the bed and the nightstand! Andy rescued him before I could see, and I'm glad because I think it would have made me feel even worse. Poor Guy! Here is a picture of his war wounds.

Please tell me I'm not the only recipient of the bad mommy award! anyone else want to make me feel better and share a story?

For the record, you are NOT a bad mommy. Since I don't have kids, I can't claim any bad mommy award YET. However, I CAN claim the bad aunt award and on many occasions (but I do tell my siblings that as far as babysitting goes, they DO get what they pay for. As in, they aren't paying me, so they can't expect quality care. I always promise them I would be more attentive if they threw in a few bucks). One time I left my niece, she was probably only six months at the time, on the bed to take a nap. I, too, had put some pillows around her thinking that would be fine. Luckily she didn't even stir, but when my sister came home to check on her, she freaked out. I learned that wasn't exactly the safest way to put a baby down for a nap. Ah, well. I think it is better to learn these things while watching other people's children:)
Trust me, you are not the only one! When Gavin was a baby i put him on our bed. I turned around for what seemed like 3 seconds and boom! He was on the floor screaming his head off! I was panicing, especially since he was my first and that was his first fall!
I just found your blog (linked to Mique's) and coincidentally just posted a story on my own blog today of how I was a bad mommy! You can check it out at http://howellherald.blogspot.com/
(And if you think what you did is bad, I once put my baby in her carseat on the kitchen table because she could not get out of it, and then I ran downstairs and heard a big "thunk" as she demonstrated that she COULD get out of it and she fell onto the tile floor! Talk about feeling horrible!) Luckily, no permanent damage. Just a big bruise in time for my mother-in-law's arrival!
